Tasty Tuesday: Apple Mango Crisp
I bought a mango a while back thinking, I'll make some cool, adventurous recipe with this! Instead, poor sad little mango was left to despair in the fruit bowl, growing more withered and icky looking as the days passed. Finally, it was time to decide-toss or keep?
That's when I noticed two sad looking apples in much the same condition. And then an idea blossomed....
And so, this tasty creation was born. Out of unloved, forgotten fruit comes lovely, tasty apple-mango crisp. Yummy.
Adapted from Spark People's Recipe
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1/2 Tbsp sugar (or more if you like it extra sweet)
Sprinkling of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves (how much depends on your preference, i just did a few shakes of each)
1 cup rolled oats
1 tsp vanilla
dash of cinnamon
3 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp butter
Preheat oven to 325 F/160 C
Toss the first 5 ingredients together in a 9 inch baking dish.
Put the other ingredients in a bowl, use your fingers to grind the butter into the mix til it gets crumbly. Pour over the top of the fruit and bake for 30 minutes.
